So you want to join the RAGE Street Team….

Friends! It’s been so long!

It’s been a crazy last two years for me. Publishing ROAR was the fulfillment of a long-time dream for me. I’ve been a published romance author since 2012, but in many ways that was a happy accident. I had never actually written a contemporary romance until I wrote the one that blew up and gave me the beautiful career I have today (Thanks Bliss and Garrick, oh and Angry cat Hamlet)! Prior to that, all my unpublished writing had been fantasy or paranormal or supernatural in some way. That was my first writing dream– to write  complex worlds and plots of magic and intrigue with unexpected twists and reveals (and kissing, ALWAYS KISSING). Writing and publishing ROAR was such an exhilarating and exciting journey, but if you’ve kept up with me online, you might know that around the same time that dream came true, other parts of my life started to fall apart. I had been having a variety of unexplained health issues for years, but around the time I was working on edits for ROAR, I saw a dramatic increase in the intensity of those problems. It was not until a few months after the release of the book that I found the root of those issues when I was diagnosed epilepsy in October 2017. What followed was a hectic, scary, and grueling year + of experimenting with medications (most of which did not work or made things worse), and during that time my mind was so fragmented from seizures and fogged by medication, that not only could I not write, I could barely even understand the world I had created and the words that I had already written.

I felt like I had lost myself. And I was not sure I would ever find the old me again.

After a brief hospitalization, lots of doctor’s visits, a full pharmacy of meds, ongoing therapy, and a tremendous amount of support from my family, friends, and my publishing team, I’m clawing my way back, not to the old me, but to someone stronger, who has walked through that storm and made it out the other side.

RAGE was a product of that process. It’s a book about a fighter, dealing with a changed world in the best ways she knows how. It’s about surviving and learning to thrive in a life that looks different than what you had imagined for yourself. It’s about hope and love and companionship blooming in even the darkest of situations.

I am excited (and nervous) to share this book with the world. But before it is released wide on August 27th, there will be opportunities for some readers (especially booksellers, librarians, bloggers, bookstagrammers, booktubers, etc) to read the book early as an Advanced Reader Copy (aka ARC). The e-arc is available to request now on Netgalley, in fact.

But if you loved ROAR…

Like… loved it so much that you’re dying a little inside waiting for RAGE…

I have an opportunity you might be interested in!

MORE ABOUT THE BOOK:

All Aurora Pavan ever wanted was a choice, to control her own life. Now she’s got more choices than she can handle.

Princess or adventurer.
Duty or freedom.
Her Kingdom or the Stormhunter she loves.

If she knows anything, it’s that choices have consequences— like the storm now tangled with her heart, the alarming disappearance of her mother and friend, and the fall of her kingdom to the Locke family. To set things right, she joins a growing revolution on the streets of Pavan. She puts her knowledge of the palace to use to aid the rebellion, but the Lockes aren’t the only sinister thing plaguing Pavan. The Rage season is at it’s peak and not a day passes without the skies raining down destruction. But these storms seem… different than any she’s ever encountered. They churn with a darkness that frightens her, and attack with a will like she’s never seen.

This feels like more than Rage.
It feels like war.

WHAT IS A STREET TEAM?

For me? A street team is like my book’s family. A street team helps promote a book both before and after release. Often, this is done is small ways like:

  • Adding  or recommending the book on Goodreads
  • Requesting your local library order the book
  • Sharing your love and excitement on social media and with friends and family
  • Pre-ordering the book if you are able from your local bookstore or from any online retailer of your choice

Most of these things can be done by anyone, of course. And trust me, any author will GREATLY appreciate your doing them. But by organizing a street team, readers can often join together with the author and publisher and do even more to help a book. They can participate in marketing plans like excerpt reveals, interviews, Instagram challenges, Twitter chats, and more. They can get creative and be inspired by the book. My past street teams have even organized cool marketing ideas of their own (because they’re fabulous). We hope that the team will be a place that book lovers can use their creativity and skills and excitement to support RAGE and also have a lot of fun!

WHAT DO YOU GET IN RETURN?

As a former book blogger, I know that your time is valuable, and you have a great many choices on how to spend your free hours. Being on a street team IS a time commitment. But I hope several things will make that commitment worth it. First, I try as hard as I can to make my street teams a community. I started my first street team back in early 2014, and I am still in close contact with many members, and I am blessed to count many of them as good friends. We’ll spend a lot of time talking about RAGE, but we’ll also talk about other books we love. We’ll talk about life, and we’ll lean on each other, and I hope you will make many new friends. As a member of the team, you’ll get exclusive sneak peeks at RAGE (and even book three as I work). You’ll also learn behind the scenes info and fun facts that no one else knows, read deleted scenes, have access to private team giveaways and chats with me, and you’ll get first dibs on ARCS*.

*Depending on the size of the team, it may not be possible to guarantee every member a print or e-ARC, but being a Street Team Member definitely gives you the best chance at reading the book early. We will also do our best to organize the team so that those who participate and put in their time are rewarded.

HOW DO I APPLY?

This is the simple part. In previous years, if you applied to my team, you might remember it as a bit of a bloodbath. We typically had hundreds of applications and had to cut it down significantly. The largest team we ever had was 50 people, and even that was BRUTAL to narrow down. The good news is… we are choosing a SIGNIFICANTLY larger team this year. This means we’ll have to adjust some things, and we will be changing up some aspects of our format. For example, we’ll be using a newsletter as our primary form of communication this year, as opposed to the private Facebook group we used in years past (don’t worry, we’ll keep the FB group as a hangout). To that end, this year’s application is a little less intense. But we still want to get to know you, so we have some questions we would like you to answer. You just need to fill out the form below.

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY MAY 5TH.

Seriously. May 5th. That’s the end date. So tell everyone you know who might be interested.

APPLY NOW. *

*Applications do not guarantee acceptance onto the team. But as I mentioned, we’re trying to open up and involve more people this year, so the odds are definitely MUCH MORE in your favor. 🙂 And as always, I try to choose my teams with an eye to harmony and passion and a balance of skillsets and interests. I’m not looking at your follower count as the bottom line.

If you are interested in knowing more about the Street Team, I will be chatting Live on Instagram this Sunday at 6pm CDT (7pm EDT) with a longtime member of my street team and my good friend, Megan from Novel Grounds. We’ll talk about past street teams, what will be different this time, and because Megan is one of the lucky few who has already read RAGE, you can bet we’ll be talking about that! So make sure you are following me on Instagram (@CoraCarmack) and come hang out on Sunday! I made sure it did not interfere with Game of Thrones. Haha.

And now for the FIRST EVER RAGE ARC GIVEAWAY!!!!

This giveaway is open internationally, and also closes on MAY 5TH, just like the street team applications. There are multiple ways to enter, and you can enter once a day for several of them. Also, have a picture of the pretties.

So I hope you get lucky! Click here to enter.*

*Puppy Sherlock not included in giveaway.

Thanks for reading! And I cannot wait for you all to dive back into the Stormheart Universe with me!

With all my Awkward <3,

Cora

P.S. For those awaiting news on other books, I’m sorry I don’t have any specifics on that front. As I mentioned at the beginning, I got very far behind on both book things and life during my health struggles over the last few years. I am improving, but during all that time, my to-do list kept piling up. I’m chipping away and hopeful I’ll have news later this year, but this is definitely a race that will need to be slow and steady in order to maintain the progress I’ve made. As always, I appreciate your patience.

The One Where ALL PLAYED OUT is Here!!!!

We’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting…and it’s FINALLY the best #TorresTuesday ever, because ALL PLAYED OUT IS HEEEEEERREE!!!!!

If you’re wondering what all the excitement is about….All Played Out is the third book in my Rusk University series! It’s available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks and hopefully at your local bookstore! (Note: If you can’t find it in your bookstore, don’t be afraid to ask. Sometimes they can be slow about putting books out on time, and it might just be sitting in the back room waiting for someone like you to ask). You can also add it on Goodreads! Here’s a little more info, if you’re curious. 🙂

ALL PLAYED OUT
by Cora Carmack

First person in her family to go to college? CHECK.
Straight A’s? CHECK.
On track to graduate early? CHECK.
Social life? …..yeah, about that….

With just a few weeks until she graduates, Antonella DeLuca’s beginning to worry that maybe she hasn’t had the full college experience. (Okay… Scratch that. She knows she hasn’t had the full college experience).

So Nell does a smart, dedicated girl like herself does best. She makes a “to do” list of normal college activities.

Item #1? Hook up with a jock.

Rusk University wide receiver Mateo Torres practically wrote the playbook for normal college living. When he’s not on the field, he excels at partying, girls, and more partying. As long as he keeps things light and easy, it’s impossible to get hurt… again. But something about the quiet, shy, sexy-as-hell Nell gets under his skin, and when he learns about her list, he makes it his mission to help her complete it.

Torres is the definition of confident (And sexy. And wild), and he opens up a side of Nell that she’s never known.  But as they begin to check off each crazy, exciting, *normal* item, Nell finds that her frivolous list leads to something more serious than she bargained for. And while Torres is used to taking risks on the field, he has to decide if he’s willing to take the chance when it’s more than just a game.

Together they will have to decide if what they have is just part of the experiment or a chance at something real.

*********

EEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!! I am SO unspeakably excited for you guys to read this book! I think Mateo Torres miiiiight be my favorite book boyfriend I have ever written. EVER. I know, those are fighting words, but seriously….I love him so muchIn part, it’s because he’s totally the kind of guy I would date in real life. Hilarious and bold and maybe just a little perverted. I still act like a kid most days, and I like a guy who can be playful, but then also turn on the serious and sexy when the occasion calls for it. He’s also just so different from all the other guys I’ve written, and it was really fun to tackle a character that felt completely fresh to me. And when you dig a little deeper past his outlandish exterior, Torres has fears and insecurities that I think will be familiar to a lot of people. And something about that combination of humor and vulnerability just makes him very real and very human in my head.

Not to mention Nell. NELL! Gah… she’s definitely one of my favorite heroines. She’s quirky and smart and anti-social. And I love that she always says exactly what pops into her head with no thought to what is cool or attractive. She’s an extremely logical girl, and to watch her tackle college as if it were a math problem to solve was just a blast to write.

And of course you’ll get to see the rest of the Rusk University gang! You’ll see Dallas and Carson again. The book even opens with a half-naked Silas (you’re welcome). And we get to see more of Stella and Ryan and Brookes and Matty too!

To help celebrate the release of All Played Out, the Carmcats (my amazing street team) have put together an AWESOME photo challenge!

11055312_10204392784364228_3861150698274981921_nYou can participate by posting a picture fitting each day’s theme on your social media accounts and using the hashtag #APOPhotoChallenge. The photo challenge has been going for a week, but it’s not too late for you to join in…just pick up with today’s prompt (or feel free to play catch up on the ones you’ve missed)! INSPIRE by Cora Carmack
Coming Monday December 15th, 2014

Kalliope lives with one purpose.

To inspire.

As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real.

Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal.

Her presence may inspire genius.

But it breeds madness, too.

You can add it on Goodreads, and you can pre-order now exclusively through iBooks! It’s currently on for a special introductory price of $2.99! If you pre-order or buy within the first few days of release, you’ll get it for that price. But after that, it will go up to it’s full price of $3.99.

(Inspire will be available from all retailers on release day). Please note: INSPIRE is independently published and in e-book only at the moment. So if you normally buy my books at your local bookstore, you won’t find this one there. If you prefer to read paperbacks, we’re planning to release a paperback edition of Inspire in January that you can order from online retailers.
Click HERE for the answers to more frequently asked questions about Inspire.

You can also read the first SIX chapter of Inspire now! That adds up to over 60 pages!

And now… do you want to win an e-ARC of Inspire so that you can start reading it early?
Sure you do!

Football Friday: Meet Ryan Blake plus a Giveaway!

GUYS. IT’S MAY.
THAT MEANS ALL LINED UP COMES OUT THIS MONTH!

If you haven’t heard about ALL LINED UP, you can check it out on goodreads. You can also read the first thirty four pages. AND… if you need more incentive, those who pre-order ALU and register here will give a BRAND NEW Garrick and Bliss scene Post-Losing It/Keeping Her. EVEN BETTER… you can now order your own signed paperback from Word Bookstore and get it on release day! So far I introduced Carson McClainthe heroine Dallas ColeBFF slash Badass Stella Santos, and bad boys Levi and Silas.

And now I’m introducing Ryan Blake, team manager and Carson’s friend.
Ryan is a bit on the nerdy side, but he still loves sports and aspires to be an athletic trainer. When he and Carson become friends, he gives a much-needed bit of levity. Carson is so focused and determined that he’ll drive himself into the ground. Ryan helps him work towards his goal of becoming starting quarterback, but also helps him loosen up. Ryan is funny, shamelessly flirty, and extremely loyal.
Ryan is actually the hero of book three in the series, which I’m scheduled to start working on soon, and I’m so excited. I have a feeling I’m going to laugh A LOT in that book. 🙂
And that’s Ryan. Enter the giveaway below for a chance to win a signed ARC and meet him in person! (Or you know… in pages).

And if you’re heading to RT convention in New Orleans, or you live in the area, join me (and a bunch of other awesome authors) for a signing on release day (May 13th) at Garden District Books!

Football Friday: Meet Stella Santos & a GIVEAWAY!

We’re one week closer to the release of All Lined Up on May 13th! ARCS are out in the world, reviews are rolling in, and I’m SO excited. So far I introduced Carson McClain, and the heroine Dallas Cole, and now it’s time to meet one of my FAVORITE characters!
Stella is confident and bold and knows exactly who she is. She’s always challenging Dallas to loosen up and have some fun, something she’s very good at having. She’s funny, and she’ll say whatever she’s thinking because she could care less what others think.
Basically, she’s everything I wish I was. 😉 And because I love her so much, she plays a pretty big role in the series as a whole.
And because I love you guys… a slightly longer teaser featuring Stella and Dallas before one of Carson’s games:
I pull out my phone to text Carson, but I don’t know what to say. I want to tell him something that matters, something big, but the only thing that comes to mind are those three little words that we are so, so not ready for.
I tell Stella as much, and she pauses in unwrapping a piece of gum to say, “I’ve got three different words for you. Winning = BJ.”
“Stella!”
She pops the gum in her mouth. “You said you wanted something big that matters. I think that qualifies.”
“You’re terrible. And no help whatsoever.”
“Speaking of big things…” Her slow-spreading smile reminds me for the thousandth time how different we are. “How big is it? You can tell me.”

I hope you enjoyed meeting Stella! Enter to win a signed advanced copy below! And come back next week for more chances to win and to meet more characters from the series!
*cough* sexy football players up next *cough*

Football Friday: Meet Dallas Cole & an ARC giveaway!

We’re one week closer to the release of All Lined Up on May 13th! ARCS are out in the world, reviews are rolling in, and I’m SO excited. Last week, I introduced Carson McClain, the first of multiple sexy football player book boyfriends in my new Rusk University series.

Today, I’m giving you the skinny on our heroine.

I try to get a new perspective in each of my books in an attempt to make sure as many people as possible can “see” themselves in my books and characters. So, with Dallas… I wanted to take a different route from most NA books. One reason it’s so fun to write NA is that the characters are experiencing all kinds of new freedoms and getting to decide who they’re going to be for the rest of their life. For All Lined Up, I threw that out the window and decided to take a look at what college is like for those who don’t get to start over or get the freedom to do whatever they want. There are plenty of people who stay at home after they graduate high school, or go to college in the same town, or with people they knew from high school.
Dallas has spent her whole life surrounded by football.
All she wants from college is to get away and start fresh. She’s a dance major, dying for the day when her father doesn’t control her entire life, and she can move out of Texas and pursue what she loves.
Then she finds out her father has taken the open coaching position at Rusk University, and that escape she’d planned gets crushed by the same thing that always seems to screw up her life: football.
But you know… Dallas is a good ole Texas girl. We don’t just take things lying down. So, she sucks it up and heads to her first college party in an attempt to have some fun and blow off steam. That’s where she meets Carson McClain. He’s the kind of guy that can make a girl forget all about why she had decided to hate college.
Then she finds out he’s on her father’s football team. And, well… you see where this is going.
A little more about Dallas:
She’s feisty and direct (aka… brutally honest). That’s what happens when you’re raised by a football coach. She’s snarky and just a touch insecure (aren’t we all?). She’s unemotional and unattached and that’s how she likes it. She prefers to push all of her emotions into her dancing where they’re useful.
And that’s my Dallas. I can’t wait for you all to meet her. As a Coach’s daughter, it’s hard for me not to see myself in her, except, you know, way cooler than me.
And now that you’ve met Dallas, you can enter to win a signed advanced copy of All Lined Up!
And if you want to Pre-Order ALU, you get 10 extra entries in the giveaway (plus that new Garrick/Bliss bonus scene I mentioned)!

The One Where Keeping Her is live!

After long last, more Garrick and Bliss has arrived.

Here’s what you need to know:

*KEEPING HER is a novella. That means it’s going to be short. And I know (trust me I know) that many of you will wish it had been longer, but the truth of the matter is… it’s more than I ever intended to write. I’d always planned LOSING IT to be the end of their story. But because I love you (and you all love them), I decided to squeeze out a little more awkward goodness for you. But Keeping Her really is the last story that will focus solely on Bliss and Garrick. They make appearances in FAKING IT, and (sort of) in FINDING IT. But this is the last book they’ll get all to themselves.

*KEEPING HER is also a sequel. It’s not rehashing the events of LOSING IT. It takes place AFTER LOSING IT’s epilogue. It is not meant to be a standalone. You DO need to read LOSING IT first.

*For now, KEEPING HER is ebook only. There’s a possibility it might pop up later as a mass market paperback, but that’s not guaranteed. If you don’t own an e-reader, you can always download the Nook or Kindle app on your phone or computer.

*The only other territory where rights have sold to Keeping Her is the UK. So far. It releases in the UK on the 15th.

And here’s the official synopsis for the novella:

ABOUT KEEPING HER

Garrick Taylor and Bliss Edwards managed to find their happily-ever-after despite a rather… ahem… complicated start. By comparison, meeting the parents should be an absolute breeze, right?

But from the moment the pair lands in London, new snags just keep cropping up: a disapproving mother-in-law-to-be, more than one (mostly) minor mishap, and the realization that perhaps they aren’t quite as ready for their future as they thought.

As it turns out, the only thing harder than finding love is keeping it.

And now, in honor of the return of Garrick and Bliss… I have some fun news!

First, I’ll be donating 20% of all my earned royalties for this book to the charity Planting Peace. You can find out more about Planting Peace here:  http://www.plantingpeace.org/. Planting Peace is a progressive nonprofit organization founded for the purpose of spreading peace in a hurting world. Although the organization operates on a global level, they emphasize the power of one; the ability that each person possesses to make a difference in the world.

I chose Planting Peace because they’re a young, passionate non-profit that does work in multiple areas from environmental causes to orphan care to foreign aid to civil rights causes. And they’re known for putting as much of the money earned toward charity as possible, rather than to salaries or overhead. They accomplish as much as possible with the money given to them, and I’m excited to be apart of it. I hope you’ll check out the charity (and be happy with where your money is going). In particular, their de-worming project is tremendously impressive.

And now for the part you’re really waiting for… AN EPIC GIVEAWAY.

In honor of the release of KEEPING HER, we’ll have two lucky winners. One will received a signed set of LOSING IT and FAKING IT. And the other…

*drumroll please*

Will have their name (or a name of their choice) featured in my next novella! My next novella (currently untitled) releases early 2014 and focuses on Jackson Hunt, the hero in FINDING IT.

Thanks again for all your love and support. I couldn’t do any of this without you guys. And just in case you missed it one of the other dozen times I posted it, you can read the first chapter of Keeping Her AND several bonus chapters from Losing It in Garrick’s POV here.

Want to read LOSING IT early? AKA… The One with the Challenge

Hellooooo friends!

So many amazing things have been happening that I’ve had a little trouble keeping up and have neglected my sad little blog. I think it’s time to change that! So… I have some news and a challenge for you all!

The news is… LOSING IT has a cover!!!! The cover reveal (organized by the YA Sisterhood) was a phenomenal success!!! Over 30 blogs participated, and the reaction was FANTASTIC! Sadly, since the cover reveal, I had to make a slight change to the font on the cover so that it would be more readable as a thumbnail for when it goes up for sale. So here is the latest version for your viewing pleasure!

*Fans self*
The guy is pretty cute, huh? Trust me… the rest of the picture that I cut out is even better! It will be released along one stop of the blog tour!
Now that that’s done, are you guys ready for my challenge? It’s a big one! Well, actually it’s a multi-part challenge!
If LOSING IT hits 1000 “to read” adds on Goodreads, I’ll host a giveaway for one advanced copy of LOSING IT! These are rare folks, and I hadn’t planned to give any more out, but I think 1000 adds deserves celebrating! Here’s where we currently stand on Goodreads:
Not that far to go, right? That giveaway is within your grasp!
UPDATE: Challenge met! See the next post for the giveaway!

Losing It

BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!

If LOSING IT hits 1500 “to read” adds, I’ll do something crazy! I’ll bump the release date up by at least one full day (the current release date is October 16th). I’ll do the same at 2000 and 2500 too, which means LOSING IT could be released by as many as three days early!
UPDATE: WE’VE HIT 1350! Not much more to go before the 1500 challenge! October 15th is looking pretty good for the release date!
Everyone I’ve interacted with so far has been so enthusiastic and encouraging and amazing.

I BELIEVE IN REWARDING THAT KIND OF AWESOME.

And I like coming up with rewards! So, who knows? Maybe if you guys continue to impress and awe me, I’ll come up with even more rewards!
Love, love, love you all!
In awkward <3,
