The One Celebrating My 5 Year #Coraversary!
In October 2012, I took a risk.
In October 2012, I self-published a book that was unlike anything I’d ever written before.
What followed was a whirlwhind of change that happened very, very fast. My life quite literally changed overnight. My first book published in the middle of the month. I signed with my agent a week later. We sold to a publisher shortly thereafter. October 2012 was the beginning of a really incredible journey.
And now, in October 2017, I’m celebrating FIVE YEARS of being a published author.
Five years! That’s crazy! And incredible. And humbling. It’s been a wild ride, but so fulfilling, and it wouldn’t be possible without each and every one of you. You guys are the reason I’m able to do what I love, and I am so eternally grateful. I truly believe I have some of the most compassionate, thoughtful, and hilarious readers. At signings, I meet so many genuinely amazing and interesting people. It’s why I get in trouble for talking too much. You’re all just too freaking cool. I can never adequately express how thankful I am for every step of we’ve taken on this journey together. One thing is always true of life and art– change is the only constant. And it is with that in mind that I move into the next part of this adventure. Things in my life are changing. Publishing is ever changing. And as always, my interest lies in stories about change. Characters becoming who they are meant to be. Girls making waves. Boys being (emotionally) brave. Things might be a little slower around here these days, but my heart is bigger than ever. Stick around. I might need your help with a tempest or two. 😉
